Ingredients:-
- 1 bottle gourd/calabash
- 3/4 cup chana dal or chickpea pulse
- 2 tsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- salt to taste
- coriander for garnishing
Method:-
- Take the chana dal and wash and drain it.
- Soak chana dal in water for about 15mins. Then drain it.
- In a pressure cooker, turn on medium heat.
- Add oil and let it turn hot.
- Add the cumin seeds and let it sizzle.
- Add the tumeric powder,ginger-garlic paste and chana dal.
- Add the dry masalas: coriander powder and chilli powder.
- Add salt to taste.
- Add 2 cups of water.
- Let it cook for 2 whistles.Then release the pressure.
- Take the bottle gourd and peel it's skin.
- Cut into bite sized cubes.
- Turn on the heat and add bottle gourd pieces to the chana dal.
- Cook (7-8 minutes) or till the bottle gourd is soft.
- Garnish with coriander.
- Enjoy!
